Basic information about the Czech Republic
At present there are more than 10 historic sights registered in the UNESCO index (e.g. Brno – villa Tugendhat, Český Krumlov – historic centre, Holašovice – rural preserve, Kutná Hora – historic centre etc.). Transport in the Czech Republic
Railway transport in the Czech Republic has a total line length of approximately 9,500 km, of which approximately 2,700 km is electrified. Railway transport in the area of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia has a 160 year long tradition. Within Europe, the Czech Republic is an important railway crossing. Bus transport in the Czech Republic is provided by private transport companies. The density of bus lines in the whole Republic is rather high. In Prague, the main bus station with an information office is located a few steps from the underground station Florenc, on line C. Water transport in the Czech Republic is possible on parts of the Labe and Vltava rivers. Parts of the Labe and Vltava that have an international statute are interconnected by the European system of waterways to the seaport (Labe - Hamburg) and by the system of European navigation channels to other rivers and ports (Magdeburg, Duisburg, Bremen, Rotterdam).
Road transport (passenger car) is approximately 125,000 km long and mostly covered with tarred or concrete panel surface. The speed limit in built-up areas is 50 kph, outside 90 kph and on the motorway 130 kph.
